Each of Linda’s classes is a carefully crafted yoga experience. Generous class lengths (1.75 hours) allow the approach to be slow, mindful and complete. Classes begin with a relaxation in which students are guided from an outer-world focus to an inner one. This initial centering gives the muscles time to become relaxed and passive.
Slow sustained stretching in basic positions ensures that the muscles, joints, the pelvis and the spine are loosened. Even the warm-ups are led as a flow of movement. After warming up, a posture or breathing technique is taught – thoroughly. Detailed information is provided about alignment, benefits, safety and adaptations to make the posture easier or more challenging. The pose is practised, discussed, and assists are provided as needed. Following the lesson, the class is led through a meditative flow of poses in which each person moves into their own inner experience. Some classes are a continuous flow of movement, a meditation-in-motion, from beginning to end. All classes conclude with a final guided relaxation that is sufficiently long to allow the body and mind time to integrate all that has opened and changed.
Each course has been carefully preplanned. Postures have been selected, taught and practised so that a new, balanced and flowing routine is achieved in the final 4 classes of each course – providing a deep yoga experience. Handouts are provided to assist students in recreating this experience at home.
