Linda O’Neill, B.A., BEd., E-RYT 500
Since her teens, Linda has been interested in Eastern philosophy. In 1973/74, she traveled overland through Asia to India, the homeland of yoga. Returning from India, she took a degree in English, Psychology & Education from Queen’s University, settled in Kingston and worked as a behavior therapist training parents of mentally disabled children. In 1985, after the birth of her first child, she began practising yoga on a regular basis and taking yoga courses at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts.
In 1996, Linda opened her own yoga business and became interested in Vanda Scaravelli’s approach to yoga. For two years she studied with Canada’s Esther Myers (author of Yoga and You and a long-time student of Scaravelli). She became certified with Esther and is now registered at the highest level with the Yoga Alliance (a major international accrediting organization). She is qualified as an E-RYT 500:
• E – experienced, over 2000 hours of teaching experience
• 500 – over 500 hours of approved teacher training
• RYT – registered yoga teacher
Over the past 25 years, Linda has trained extensively at the Kripalu yoga center and is currently enrolled in their 500-hour Teacher Training Program. Her approach integrates Scaravelli’s principles of alignment into a smooth meditative flow of postures. In 2007, Linda released a popular instructional CD and photographic guide called “Limber for Life”. Recently she has been accepted into the Acharya Intensive Program – a one year intensive created and led by Kripalu founders Vidya Carolyn Dell’uomo and Devarshi Steve Hartman. She is in her 15th year of teaching in Kingston.
